After a bone-chilling winter, India is now bracing for a hot summer. What can be more fun than wading through the blue-tinged waters of the beautiful sea and experiencing the beauty of swaying palm and coconut trees or watching the greenery of mangroves?
India has nine coastline states which include Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and West Bengal. Each of these states has its own beauty.
If you are planning to visit any of these places, then why not bring with you beautiful memories of the fun you had on your cell phone?
Here are my five tips to shoot the beauty of the seashore with your smartphone. You do not need to carry lots of gadgets. Just your smartphone and a tripod will serve your purpose. Do remember to clean the lens of your smartphone from time to time with a soft cloth as the lens can become foggy in the vicinity of the sea.
1) Capture the Golden Hour: Get up at the crack of dawn and rush to the beach before sunrise. The golden hour is the time when the sun is casting its golden diffusing light on the beach. Its rays come at an angle and the light is very soft. Another golden hour is when the sun is setting. When you shoot the sea in this Golden Hour, you will get stunning visuals.
2) Use a Tripod to get steady shots of the sea. You could pan, tilt and get lots of shots to capture the beauty of the shoreline, sea and beaches.
3) Have a focal point. Instead of only capturing the vast empty stretch of the sea, try to see if you could have a focal point. It could be a fisherman’s boat in the silhouette of golden light, a ship, a setting sun, or a water sport. It could also be the motion of the waves, patterns in the cloud, or the texture of the sand. It will enhance the beauty of your visual.
4) Ensure that the sea horizon is properly aligned. What is a sea horizon? It is the line where the sea seems to meet the sky. While shooting the scenery, ensure that the sea horizon is not broken.
5) Bring in the human element. A beautiful place such as a beach becomes even more interesting when there you introduce a human element into it.
