In my last post I wrote about the low angle camera shots that are used to make the subject appear powerful, influential and strong. For example the angry dialogue of the iconic villain Ganbar Singh in Sholay and the protagonist of film Bahubali. High angle shots can be used to create the opposite effect. Used properly it can be used to show the subjects weakness and vulnerability. Have a look at the two images that I have copy pasted below from two films. One is from the film Sholay where Imam Saheb( A K Hangal) is grieving over the murder of his only son by Gabbar. The high angle shots make the subject look smaller and weaker. The second scene is from a ton thriller movie Baby. In this scene Intelligence officer Ajay is interrogating the terror accomplice in his interrogation chamber. Notice the camera angle.
