WAKA WAKA ,THIS TIME FOR AFRICA!

When my husband Chandran Iyer, Editor of Corporate Tycoons magazine and CEO of Media Gurukulam , the Education wing of Corporate Tycoons excitedly told me that we have to train 100 students from West Africa on Smartphone Filmmaking, the first thing that reverberated in my mind was the song by the Colombian singer Shakira – Waka Waka ( This Time for Africa).

This pop song written, composed and produced by Shakira and John Hill, “Waka Waka ( This Time for Africa) was released on May 7, 2010 by Epic Records as the official song of the 2010 FIFA World Cup which was held in South Africa.

It was the biggest song of 2010 in seven countries and has sold over 15 million downloads worldwide.

Why did I remember this song? Because not just the song, but even the lyrics is inspiring.

It says:

You’re a Good Soldier

Choosing your Battles

Pick Yourself up and Dust Yourself Off

And Back in the Saddle

Both the words Student and Soldier are seven letter words. Besides both need to hone up their skills continuously. I consider myself a student who is into Life Long Learning. So are my students with whom I share my knowledge.

The students of West Africa are very enthusiastic to learn. But I realized communicating with them online is not easy. This is because they do not have the good network connectivity. But as William Channing said, Difficulties are meant to rouse, not discourage. The human spirit is to grow strong by conflict.

Thanks a lot Mr Onkareshwar Pandey, CEO Golden Signatures for this Golden opportunity. Thank you Francis Masaline, Executive Director YIL---Network West Africa. This would not have been possible without both of you.
