WHAT IS THE COMMON DENOMINATOR IN THESE SCENES?

“Apni Mrs Ko kehna, ki may aya tha”says Jeetu ( Akshay Kumar) to Radeshyam Tiwari ( Paresh Rawal) to the utter chagrin of the latter. Bristling with anger Radheshyam retorts “woh meri Mrs hai. Hamara joint account nahi " in the comedy movie Hungama.

In the second scene from the movie Three Idiots, the professor asks what is the definition of a machine and is peeved at the simple reply given by Rancho ( Amir Khan) saying that “a machine is anything that reduces human effort”.

The third scene is from the movie Hera Pheri and the characters in this scene are Baburao Ganpatrao ( Paresh Rawal ) and Ghansham ( Suneil Shetty).

But there is a common denominator in all these scenes. Look closely at the camera angle and you will find a similarity.

This camera angle in cinematography is called Over the Shoulder Shot or OTS. The OTS is a camera angle used in film and television, where the camera is placed above the back of the shoulder and head of a subject. This shot is most commonly used to present conversation back and forth between two subjects.
